There was a Census in 1926, the first after 1911. Times were unpropitious for a Census in 1921 !!
There is a bill currently before the Seanad which aims to have the 1926 Census released this year. I don't know what the bill's prospects of success may be.

Hi lisduggan, Patrick Fitzgerald maried margaret Musgrave 1876, they had 3 childreen, Michael who married Bridget Kiely, Patrick who married Anastasia O toole, and Francis, Patrick died 1883, and Margaret remarried Patrick O Donnell 1886, Michael Fitzgerald who married Bridget Kiely, had the following Catherine, Mary, Patrick who married Ellen Marshall, Michael, & Elizabeth. hope this will be of some help :)

Hi Lisduggan, on the marriage, patrick parents were Michael & Mary Fitzgerald, Ballybricken, Patricks address was Waterside, I did some work on the Fitzgerald' s Family (inlaws of mine) from Andrew St once called May Lane, some weeks back a lady in the library asked me to look up a Edward Murphy & Anne McGuire family and informed me about your message on this site were I saw the Fitzgerald Query, I do Research for people from Waterford City as I have almost all the church Records. you can google me at deBurgh Burke history. Debu its a long time since i heard the name of may lane thats where my late mother came from I spent many happy times there with my gran bridget fitzgerald of No 3 I am still resseraching the family still have a long way to go at the moment I am looking for my mothers birth cert the rest of the family I have Its nice to know I am not the only one looking for people who were born in May Lane many thanks for that information

Catherine, born 3-6-1865, Mary Joseph, born 11-8-1867, died young, Francis, born 15th Oct 1870, Maryann, born 16th Dec 1873 married bartholomew Mahony, Edmund, born 2nd June 1875, bridget, born 25th Feb 1877 married Edward Wymberry, and Elizabeth, born 3-3-1880, on the marriage of Francis Murphy, his parents were living in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford. I have a death cert for mary mahoney from morrission road she died 21/10/1946 age 60 i am tolded she was my grandmother??
also I was out in St Marys graveyard to visted my uncle/aunt grave there names are may mahoney died in 1977/ and bartholomew died 21/3/1984 in the next grave are Bridget/edward wymberry the dated on the headstone is 13/6/ 1935age 56could this be my grandmother sister Is possible to send you a private message re this topic

Hi Lisduggan, Yes you can get in touch with me and I would say that the grave of Bridget & Edward Wymberry are yours, as their son Edward was the only other Edward around that time, he married 1934, Margaret O'Connor, and lived at 86 Poleberry, Edward & Bridget lived at 15 High St. You could also write to Miss Emma Power, of St Joseph & Benildus Church Newtown, Waterford City, they have all burials of St Mary's of Ballygunner, but they charge a fee. Hi Pat, Maryann was born as the records in Cathedral on 16-12-1873, she is down as 25 y in 1901, census, and 30 in 1911, census but she may have not known her real age, and as Bartholomew was younger would she have said? she was 28 at April 1901 census, and 38 at 1911 census. disregard the age at death as it is almost never right. hope this will help you Regards Jim

she is buried with her husband bartholomew his sister mary there daugthers kathleen

Hi Pat I went to the Register office to day to look up again the death of Patrick Fitzgerald, and found another two who died between 1881 and 1886, Patrick Fitzgerald, 1882, age 35, another age 37 all in the Top Hospital, >Work House, St Patrick's Hospital, the Patrick age 35 was from Cannon St, which I would say that is your Patrick born around 1945/8. can't find a Patrick born to a Michael Fitzgerald about time. The Patrick I had was born back in 1828, which is wrong as his age at Marriage was 28, Regards Jim

H i Pat I have that marriage also, and the church one, given Patrick's parents as Michael & M Fitzgerald, from Ballybricken, and James & M Musgrave, from Waterford, later when she married again her parents were James Musgrave & Margaret O Donnell, the only Michael & M i could up with at time of Patrick birth was Michael Fitzgerald & Margaret Whelan, in the Ballybricken area they had 4 children but no Patrick i could find but as the books of Ballybricken are faded and torn. Hi Pat, I did not go into graves of Fitzgerald's, I know some are buried in Ballybricken, and on the Dunphy's side it was Patrick Dunphy married Catherine Browne, first lived at Philip St and then to Lower Yellow Rd. the married into the O'Donnell side. Regards Jim

Hi Pat, Mary was born 19th May 1905, to Michael Fitzgerald & Bridget Kiely, Browns Lane, and Margaret Kiely did marry a James Heathering of O Brien St St John's 7th June 1948, so that would makes you related to a friend of mine Arthur Heathering, who now lives in Kilburn, and there was a lady some months back named Sandra on rootsweb looking for Heathering's from Waterford.

Jim can I scan them to you as some go back to 1890s thats when he joined the army 1897 /1909 he re/ enter the army1911 some of the print is hard to understand regarding 1914/ 1920 we a medal card plus some history of his military service ther was a lot lost in 1939/1945 will that be alright with you if so my son will look after that

Hi Pat I was out in St Otteran's looking at the Fitzgerald's graves and was informed that the grave behind and to the right of Alice & Margaret Fitzgerald's was of their mother Bridget Fitzgerald no stone but address of Bridget was not May lane but of Monastery Street? the next time your back here we most meet.
