Thank you both for this. I was going to say that I didn't think the B'ham family was mine but just noticed from their daughter's marriage certificate father Charles was a mechanic. Mmmm :-\
On 1851 I think I can see an Elizabeth JONES b. 1831 Fazeley residence Warwickshire which could be mine and a Mary JONES b. 1803 Glascote residence Leicestershire possibly her mother.
Could one of you possibly check these out for me ;)
Pinetree
Ps. Tati - Yes Fazeley is in Tamworth

1851
HO107/2013 153 10
Tamworth, Warwickshire
Church Street
Joseph Bird, head, wid, 74, Labourer for a farmer, b. Staffordshire (can't read)
Elizabeth Bird, dau, " , 52, Washerwoman, b. Warwick Sutton Coldfield
Elizabeth Jones, granddau, " 20, Weaver, b. Staffordshire Fazeley
Not too sure about the meaning of the " for the marital status of the 2 women ???
The Mary Jones b. Glascote is married to a William Jones b. Twycross, children all born Twycross.

Tati,
That's wonderful ;D ;D
I'm sure this is my Elizabeth JONES (her daughter married a BARNES!). I know her mother was Mary BIRD so now I have her Grandad too!
My Elizabeth JONES was spinster when she married in 1852 so I think the enumerator must have got carried away with his " for her marital status at least.
Willow/Tati
Now think B'ham family could be right (how fickle is that ;D). Particularly as Elizabeth was living with Grandad in Tamworth where she married a year later. Think Mary from Glascote belongs to someone else!
Thanks again to you both ;)

Hi Pinetree,
Just getting into the Bird family again and I think that your Mary and my Joseph are brother and sister. How about that?

Hi Tad,
Great to hear from you again :) I guess this makes us some sort of cousins ;)
I have to confess I have not made any progress with this line.
Have you found a baptism for Joseph? I have Mary's parents as Joseph Bird b. 1777 in Streethay and Elizabeth. Do you know any more about them?
All the best,
Pinetree

Hi Pinetree
I see some familiar names in this thread. Was your Charles Jones (b. 1812) the son of Ralph and Ellen Jones, also of Fazeley? Charles's brother Matthew is my ancestor.

Hello BigStripey,
Welcome to Rootschat.
Yes this is the same family. So far all I know about Ralph and Ellen is that they both appear to have been from Lancashire. I did not have Charles's brother Matthew in my tree.
Its great to find someone else researching this line - would be happy to share information if you would like to.
All the best

Hi Pinetree,
It's also good to find someone else looking into this branch of the family. Ralph and Ellen had two grandsons that emigrated to New Zealand. (1) James (my GtGtGrandfather) was the son of Matthew Jenkins Jones and was raised in Mill Lane, Fazely. (2) (another) Matthew Jenkins Jones was the son of John Jones who lived across the canal in Brookend. Ellen was Ellen Jenkins, which explains the Matthew Jenkins part. From one of the replies to your post I'm wondering if Ralph and Ellen lived with John at Brookend. I don't have much on Ralph and Ellen, although as a cotton spinner I imagine he went to Fazely to work at Peel's mill. Ralphs parents may have been Charles Jones and Esther Lord - if anyone can verify this I'd be happy.
I'm just heading off for a few days holidays so will be back in touch in the New Year.
