Title: Wellesbourne Parish Record Look-up
Post by: vac on Monday 22 May 06 21:43 BST (UK)
Could some kind person look up the marriage of my g grandparents, Julius Czar Galt and Annie Mary Winskill.  They were married in Wellesbourne Parish Church on April 24th 1897.
I would like to know the names of both sets of parents and the names of any witnesses.

Thank you

Val C

Hi Val
Marr:
Mary Winskill = Julius Czar Gilt/June 1897/Stratford/6d/1347
Send for the cert. and it will give all the info. you asked for unless someone is prepared to go to the records office for you.Alternatively you can email the WCRO and ask them to look for you as you have a specific date. This service is free.
Hope this helps.
Jim

Hello Val
If the father was deceased his name would still be on it.If there is a line it usually means father is unknown and the child is illigitimate. You won't get any more info. from the WCRO than you already have. The cert. gives the names of the witnesses and as you already have it I don't know what you expect from the records.

Hello Val
What you have is the Parish record.Mothers names don't appear, only fathers and occupations. After 1837 this is the way all Parish records were kept, they were then submitted to the Register Office. What you have is a copy of that.If you want the mothers names you will need the birth certs. or look for them in 1891 and trace them through the fathers marriages.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jim,

Will try birth certs as you suggest.  Thanks for that.  Family tell me that Julius was born in Gibralter.  Could you suggest how I would go about tracing and obtaining a birth cert from abroad.

Regards Val.

I know this is a long shot as the above was posted back in 2006 but it would appear that we share great grandparents, my dad and your dad were cousins. My dad and one of my sisters have done some research and have the names of Julius's parents and grandparents and Annie's mother and grandparents. So if you see this message please get in touch and maybe we can expand each others family trees.

Cheers

Hello Pete,

Thank you very much for replying to my post.

I have recently been in touch with my dad's cousin Audrey and she has very kindly given me a copy of the Galt family tree that I believe your dad and sister compiled.  The research they generously shared has enabled me to fill in a lot of the gaps I had in my tree. I still have one question that remains unanswered though and I wonder if you can help.  Auntie Winnie once showed me a photograph of her mother Annie outside a large manor house where she was working in service. It's many years ago and I can't remember the name of the house or where it was.  Have you have come across the photo or the name of the house in your research?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Val C.
