I would be interested in hearing from anyone researching these names - especially if they crop up in Kent. Thanks, Jan 8)

Hi Jan,

My Great Grandmother was Emily Millsted (1867-1911) daughter of Thomas Millsted and Sarah Ann (nee Millen). Thomas was a mariner and fisherman, and in 1871 additionally a retailer of beer at The Albion in Faversham, Kent.

In 1894 Emily became the second wife of London City Missionary and former mariner Edward Bingham Hoare (1847-1927). Edward had previously been married to Emily's Aunt Ellen Millsted (1847-1894). Ellen was the sister of Emily's father.

My Grandfather was John William Hoare (1910-1984) the youngest of Edward and Emily's children.

Various spellings I have found include: Millsted; Milsted; Millstead; Milstead; Milstad.

Does any of the above fit with the Milsteds you are researching?

I do realise this is an old thread and the OP has not been active on here for some time. Just working my way through old posts with names of interest and putting myself 'out there' to be contacted by others with same research interests.

Best regards, Tony
