Help I know John MOULE was buried in Ombersley 25 Oct 1797 but I don't know his age. We have found several John bapt, who could possibly be our ancestor but the only way I can think of to sort them is to have his age at death. There is no MI list for Ombersley in Hereford. If anyone is near Ombersley can you be kind enough to see if there is a grave for him?? The Johns we have found range in birth dates from 1754- 1764 He m in 1792 to Esther who was bap 1757 first m for both. ???

Are you aware of this Prerogative Court of Canterbury will?
Description Will of Francis Moule, Gentleman of Ombersley , Worcestershire
Date 16 August 1799
Catalogue reference PROB 11/1329
Dept Records of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Series Prerogative Court of Canterbury and related Probate Jurisdictions: Will Registers
Piece Name of Register: Howe Quire Numbers: 603 - 650
Have you checked on any locally proved wills in Worcestershire Record Office for Moule families of Ombersley? Wills could help untangled which Moules go with which families in Ombersley.

I haven't got a Francis but me distant cousin in Australia does I'll pass that on and try to get to Worcester for other wills.

You could email Worcestershire record office. Their wills will be indexed so they should be able to tell you what wills they hold of Moules connected to Ombersley.
Francis may not be directly connected to your line but some wills can be very detailed mentioning cousins etc. Other wills of course are disappointingly vague - it is pot luck.
It is also worth investigating for possible wills of families that the Moules married into.

My father has done some work on Moule (since that is us) & thinks that the John Moule mentioned is either:
John Maule christened 06/07/1733 Ombersley, son of Philip & Anne (nee Hardman) who married 16/06/1730 & had two children Thomas & John: in which case he married Sarah Jones on 30/06/1758 & had at least seven children including Sarah ch 22/11/1758, John ch 22/12/1759, Ann ch 21/12/1761, Mary ch 07/01/1764, John ch 13/05/1767, William ch 03/12/1769 & Richard 26/07/1772. Sarah died 18/03/1796.
OR
John Maule christened 08/02/1735 Worcester St Clements son of William ch 24/12/172 & Alice (nee Shipman) married around 1730: in which case he was one of 6 children, including William ch 01/03/1730 who was my Gt Gt Gt Gt Gt Grandfather.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Chris Moule

To further that, if indeed he married Esther in 1792 (which of course I failed to read properly 1st time through) he is neither of these, but is instead John Maule ch 11/03/1764, & is the son of my Gt Gt Gt Gt Gt Grandfather William, himself the first son of the William & Alice I mentioned in the previous post.
If this is the case, we would like to know some more details about Sarah, please!

Hi Chris welcome to Roots chat it really is a very friendly and useful site I hope you enjoy using it. Wow this is exciting I posted this inquiry way back in May since then we have made a couple of trips to Worcester (came back from the latest one today which is why I didn't reply yesterday ) Yes we had made the connection to William and Ann Wilks and so back to William and Alice Shipman. So a second big welcome this time to our ever growing family. Have a look at our web site we are trying to get it sorted as quickly as possible. Our MOULE interest is on the MARSHALL line and descendents of Richard WILKS we have more Moules who link in to siblings etc off the main line.
I too claim William 1730 as my Gtx5 Grandfather
Have a look at the web site and either e mail me through it or PM me through rootschat and we'll see how we can help each other

Pulling this one back to the top in the hope that someone may be able to help...
I have a Hannah (sometimes Susannah) MOULE, who married Samuel KEEPAX at Claines on 24 Aug 1807. Very little is known about her, as she died in 1812, at Claines. No age is given at this time, so I've been searching for suitable Hannahs around about 1785.
Although I've been to Worcester a few times over the past year, I've always been looking at other lines and haven't had a chance to try this one. With no real clue to Hannah's birthplace, it's hard to know where to start.
I'm aware that there are Moule families in Ombersley and Kidderminster. Has anyone done in research in these places, or indeed elsewhere near to Claines, which may include 'my' Hannah? Even if it's to say, no, not bapt at a place already researched...
Here's hoping :-)

Hi Jenna, we have been researching MOULES in the area and have covered Ombersley with a tooth comb We are in touch with several MOULE researchers too nothing seems to show up for either Hannah or Susannah. I wondered if she was a widow of a MOULE but the only Susannah found was Susannah ROSTINS but her husband William out lived her. Take a look at my web site (Holioak line descent of William Moule for the Ombersley MOULES) and contact me through it Meanwhile I'll get around my contacts to see if any one has anything for you
If she is out there I'm sure we'll find her

Super! Will drop you a note later...I had just been looking at your website after having a bit of Google about...
Even 'no, not here' is good, as it means I can attempt to eliminate some places!

Hi Jenna
just a quick update so far I'm afraid the net work is not finding anything positive but we are all now looking for you Good luck

Thank so much!
I've had a look back at my notes, and the following seem to be other possibilities:
Hannah MOULE bpt 1786 Kidderminster
Ann MOLE bpt 1787 Beoley
Ann MOLE bpt 1785 Ribbesford
Ann MOLE bpt 1779 Bromsgrove
These are only collected from online sources - the only thing I can think to do at the RO if I get an extended visit there is to work out methodically through all the surrounding parishes of Claines!
If yourself or anyone else can eliminate any of the above from the search, or indeed add any others - it'd be a huge help.
Will post here if I find anything new too.
Jenna :-)

Hi Jenna Here is the first reply
Hi
All I have come up with is the following, which may or may not help.
Samuel KIPPAX ch 27/8/1808 parents Samuel and Susannah Claines
Samuel KIPPAX married Hannah MOULE 24/8/1807 Claines
Samuel KEEPAX married Mary LEECH 13/6/1815 Claines
Which would tie in with the death of Hannah as his second marriage
Hope this Helps

The marriage and bapt is correct - I have the Keepax line pretty well covered until around 1760, it gets a bit hazy before that ;-).
You can see my dilemma over the Hannah/Susannah/Ann issue...
To compound this, Samuel is actually annotated as a widower at the time of his marriage to Hannah, in the Worcestershire marriage index and PRs, however, no trace of a prior marriage or children can be found. It does make me wonder if Hannah was actually the widow and the information got transposed somewhere along the line. Adds to the confusion.
I've not attacked this puzzle for some years, forgive me for turning up new tidbits of info, but I am re-reading earlier notes.
Will PM my e-mail...
Jenna
