Title: Help with RA Sergeant and his Regiment. Please
Post by: ClazyAunt on Thursday 18 May 06 15:37 BST (UK)
I am trying to find a Sergeant James Sanders/Saunders with the RA and his regiment.

He was  married in Woolwich in May of 1856,
Child born at sea returning from Malta in 1857,
Child born in Shoreditch.  Dec. 1858.
In Woolwich during 1861 Census.
Child born in 1862 in Woolwich,
Child born in Chicago, IL, USA in 1864.

The regiment might have also went to Canada around 1863 or 1864.  This is from family tradition.

Thank you in advance.

Can someone please let me know how to find out what troup he was with?

I am just working at it from where he was when, maybe there is a better way.

Thank you.

You might try looking through this site !

I did find a James Saunders - not much detail I'm afraid ... but you could look through the whole site !!

James SAUNDERS, living at Nuovo Fabbrica, Senglea, electoral list, 1852

Thanks, I don't know if that is him since he married Ann Downey in Woolwich in 1856 and it was not until June of 1857 that his son was born at sea on the way back from Malta.  Unless he was not in England very long in 1856.  I will need to check on that.
