Title: Looking for George Roberts - 1841 census Bermondsey please.....
Post by: jules on Tuesday 19 October 04 18:55 BST (UK)
Hi there,

A longshot here but could anyone look for George Davies in the 1841 census for me.

He married in August 1841 and was living in what looks like? Baabzephon Street?? Doesn't look very clear!  Parish of Bermondsey in the county of Surrey?

His father was Robert Davies although he died before August 1841.

Ann Elizabeth Cole was George's wife  - her father was Richard Cole and she was resident in Maple Street when she married in August 1841.

Any help much appreciated as I'm not sure how to procede with the Davies line.

Thanks in anticipation,
Jules

Hi Barbara,
Yes I am but I have the wrong name - George Davies is who I am looking for not George Roberts - trying too many lines at one time.

I've been having a break from my search so this may set me going again.

Thanks,
Julie

Hello Julie
Quite amzing but Baalzephon Street did exist!
I can't find George but I did find
Charles Davies 25 Warehouseman
Sarah 24
Neither born in county
Ref1047 4 f20
I checked the following refs 1047 f8-10, 16-22,34-35. which cover the whole of the street.
I wonder if Charles and George were related and George used the address to get married from? Unfortunately Davies is quite a common name so this is pure speculation.
I can't find Maple Street in the index.  Any idea where it was?  If you can give me the names of some nearby streets I will take a look in order to try to find Ann.
