My GGG grandparents Martin Curry and Susan(nah) Merrick married in Monkwearmouth on 11 Jan 1819.
I now know from the 1841 census that she was born out of county about 1783 which would make her about 35 when she married, so it has struck me that it may be that she was a widow and that Merrick is not her maiden name.
If anyone could check the marriage entry for me and let me know if she was marked as a widow (or her husband as a widower) I'd appreciate it. If there is a parish mentioned for either of them that would be very helpful too.
Many thanks
Jos

You will not find this kind of information on marriage certificates until after Sept 1837. All you will get are the names of thegroom & bride and the date they married. Also whether they were married by banns or licence.

Thanks Richard.
Actually certificates started in July 1837, so I know that no certificate will exist for that period.
The information shown on the register varies a lot from parish to parish so I hoped I might be lucky!

I had a look on familyhistoryonline for you, the marriage is there at Monkwearmouth St Peter but there is no other information about their respective parishes, status etc.
Good luck

Thanks for checking!
