I would like to try and find the age of Richard Worster who died March 1842 in Long Buckby.
also he mentions his wife in his will which is Jane Worster, but i cannot find a marriage to a Jane !
Regards Ian

Have you looked at the parish register to see if it gives an age on the burial record? If it doesn't then your only hope is the death certificate. Have you looked for them in 1841? What children did they have? That might help to pin them down. If you can find them in later census records their places of birth might give an idea of where the couple married.

Death Reference Number
Richard Worster
Quarter Jan-Feb-Mar 1842
District of Daventry
Volume 15
Page 195
would be worth getting the Cert... at least it would give you a ball park to work from if you didn't totally trust what age was on the Cert
Best wishes

Lots to work on with that will. Have you worked out which side of the family the nieces and nephews are on?
Step daughter? Does that mean his wife was married before?
Trace all of those in 1851 and find a few ages and places of birth and that will help a great deal. The 1841 that Bev found looks very promising.

Hi Ian ;D
Stephen Amos has transcribed Long Buckby records.

Pg 10 No 076 Born 22/3/1812 Bap 28/8/1815
Elizabeth daur of Richard & Elizabeth Worster Long Buckby Farmer
Pg 10 No 077 Born 12/7/1815 Bap 28/8/1815
Ann daur of Richard & Elizabeth Worster Long Buckby Farmer
Cheers Sandy

P.S.
Ian checked the original census image and although faint it does say Worster.
You may be able to fit in Thomas Bland now?
Not sure where Alice was Baptised?
Richard does not seem to be buried in the P.C. records for Buckby though.

Hi
On IGI it as got birth of Alice Worster 16 Dec 1821 Broughton Northampton.
parents Richard and Elizabeth Worster
Bev
-
Well that is great,
The only thing that does not fit, is in his will he mentions his wife as Jane ? The Bland would fit in perfect as latter on the fly boats they operated from Long Buckby and Braunston were called Worster, Stubbs and Bland ! My gt gt Grandfather was born in Worster Wharf yard, Bridge St, Northampton.
They only thing i can think of is perhaps Elizabeth is called Elizabeth Jane ?
So he was married before, I had another look at the will as it 3 pages long ! and does say something about if his sons had of survived perhaps from the 1st marriage ?
The clue is trying Edmund york Abbey married, as we know he married the step daughter Mary, so the christing of Mary to Richard and who ?

Ian..
Is Jane featured in the same order of the will....?
If so is she Williams wife....?
I had one like this a couple of years ago and it led me to follow the wrong one of cousins both born within 4 weeks of each other same village same name.
If his wife is Jane wouldn't she feature higher in priority?
Just a thought.

Here is a little piece of the will which shows his wife to be Jane
she indeed did get a lot more in the will
-
Jane is mentioned many times but she is the first to be mentioned
So Edmund york Abbey was born in 1800 Watford, Northants
I wonder if Jane is a Cowley or and Abbey then ? if she is with them in 1851
Ian
-
Hi Ian how about this....
Edmund York Abbey m Mary BLAND
21 March 1834
St Luke Old St Finsbury London.
Does that make Mary (step dau) daughter of Elizabeth?
Tazzie
-
Ok that sounds good,
I need to sit down and try and work this out...
i did find this
On the IGI there is also a Jane Abbey Christened 20th July 1792 Watford,
Daughter of Richard Abbey and Elizabeth
But i cannot find a marriage for her.
As there is for Elizabeth the year after.

Hello Sandy
Errm now then this could get confusing.
Richard married Elizabeth Bland and then re married to a Jane ?
He mentions Mary his step daughter married Edmund York Abbey.
And there is a marriage for him in London to a Mary Bland.
Which i would of thought should be Mary Worster and not Bland ! ?
Unless she is the daughter of Thomas Bland and he being the brother of Elizabeth.
So who is this Jane, In 1851 she is with the Cowley family who we know he married into the Abbey family, and there is a christing for a Jane Abbey. !
But no marriage of a Jane Abbey to a Worster. ! yet !
Oh yes there is i have just found it LOL
Jane Abbey to Richard Worster 21st July 1834 Market Stainton, Lincs
Bit of a long way from home ?
well that clears that bit back to Mary then !
Ian
-
Half the time you answer yourself !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. LOL.
Was Jane a spinster then?
Sandy
-
I had assumed that Elizabeth Bland had been married before and had a daughter Mary. She would be his step daughter but her surname would be Bland.
Andrea
-
It does not say as that came from the IGI.
but i am just putting it down on paper in a tree,
Richard married Elizabeth Bland in 1807 and was a widow
then he marries Jane Abbey in 1834
so now i think he is married 3 times. !
so who did he marry 1st?
and if mary is the step daughter then of course she is the daughter of Elizabeth Bland who married Richard,
So who did she marry before and she yet another Abbey ?
Ian
-
Maybe
i have seen a will that was proven in 1833 to an Esther Worster. maybe her daughter ! which is at NRO
as it seems that the Worster family did marry into the Stubbs as well as the Stubbs marrying the Stubbs which really does not help !
i think what would clear this up now is to try and find deaths for Esther between 1805 to 1807, Could of died in child birth !
a death of Elizabeth before 1834
it sort of fits why the company gets called Worster, Stubbs and Bland !
Ian
-
Ok
Death of Elizabeth Worster
Name Elizabeth WORSTER? Date 28 Apr 1830 Aged 52 Place Long Buckby Description St Lawrence Denomination Anglican County code NTH
But nothing for Esther or Jane
Esther is the daughter of Simon Stubbs of Brausnton
his son Simon marrys Mary Stubbs daughter of My Thomas Stubbs
Jemima Stubbs daughter of Simon marrys William Worster.
Just to add to that Matthew Stubbs son of Simon and Mary marrys Eleanor Worster Travis Niece of Richard Worcster.
I say keep it in the family or what !
Ian
-
Ian..
Just back from swimming lessons and now lost the plot !
As you say they keep running rings around each other .
How about these two possibles...
death Esther Worster 1844 1st qtr Northampton v15 page 234
Jane Worster b @ 1792 d 1867 1st qtr Daventry
v3b p84
The dates seem to fit.
Tazzie
-
hello Tazzie
When it comes to losing the plot, let me asure you, and sandy will back me up on this, I lose the plot most of the time!
But it gets better with this lot as i see my James Stubbs married Susanna Stubbs daughter of Samuel who is the son of Simon Stubbs !
and i have a feeling that Simon and James could be brothers ! but yet to find the connection.
Now as for esther if she died in 1844 then that must be a daughter as Richard married in 1805 and then re married in 1807 to Elizabeth
The dates do fit for Jane Worster that i think we can say is her death.

I would not agree with that at all. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your web site shows your dedication to your family history.
Now I do not know whether they die as non-conformists but if you give me a
few hours I will see if I can find them on my photographs.
Sandy
-
Okay Ian
Although there were quite a few graves in both non-conformists churches I could not read due to being buried or over-turned no sighs of either Richard or Jane.
They may be there but not noted by myself. Sorry. :(
Sandy
-
Thank you Sandy, I think this side may not be Non Comformists (which makes a change) But thank you for looking.
I now have a good chunk of the tree. Which is now making sense.
On Richard Worsters will there are just 2 names i am yet to connect.
Nephew john Davison
Niece Mary Carter
And Of course Thomas Bland.
I know Richard married Elizabeth Bland but she was a Widow.
so i think she married one of Thomas`s brothers.
Ian
-
Whoops just saw you said brother of Thomas unless of course Thomas was a father-in-law. ;D
Sandy
-
Well Sandy you may be on to something so i re checked every thing....
Looking at Census he would be born about 1808 and in the IGI there is a birth of a Thomas Bland 6th April 1808 to Arthur Bland and Alice Welch.
now could he have a brother who married an Elizabeth who died and Elizabeth re married to Richard Worster. ?
So i looked on Alans Index, but cant find anything that would match !
Ian
-
I have just got the will of Thomas Bland. WoW 6 pages of it.
Just noted on the very 1st page.
Of my late Mother Elizabeth Worster formally Elizabeth Bland.!
Also mentioned his Sister Mary Bland the wife of Edmund York Abbey
Still a lot to read !
