Hi,
Welcome to Rootschat.
Do you know the names of James' parents as they will be on the 1901 census? If not you will need to get his birth certificate which will give his father's name and his mother's maiden name.

Thanks for the info - only problem is Margaret would have been daughter born 1823 my 3x Great grandmother - don't know how to reconcile this?
Why would childeren be born in Ireland do you think?
regards Jim
-
Sorry I'm getting confused Margatret was James Coxon's daughter not James Longson's
I must be getting tired
My 3xGrandfather James would not appear in the 1841 census as he had joined the army at just 18

If you know any more about James senior or Hannah I would be grateful - I am not sure where to look for James juniors birth details or James senior's wedding bith etc
Do go to trouble but all help is valued

ps. dont know why it says born I(reland)....in 1851 the families birthplace is Stockport, Cheshire..... :-\
Had a look on IGI familyseach for births/marriage but not had much luck, maybe a parish register lookup will be more fruitful....... rootschatter peterbennett has helped me in the Cheshire area before...... if he doesnt see this thread maybe you could pm him....if they were born/married in Cheshire and not Ireland that is :-\
Will let you know if I find anything in the meantime though
Regards
Catherine :)
