Title: Problem I'm having in Legacy 5.0
Post by: Simon G. on Tuesday 02 May 06 19:59 BST (UK)
I've been using Legacy 5 for about a year now, but for some reason this past week I've been getting error message every time I try to add a marriage.  It says something about not being able to find the next free MRIN.  It then gives mives two options...yes, no, and skip.  Or something to that affect.  However, if I select no (i.e. the middle button) then it will let me put them in.
It's not so much a major problem, more so irritating.  Anyone else encountered this problem or even know how to get rid of it?

Hi,

This sounds like a small problem in the database. There might be one way around it.

But first....

Make sure you have a backup!
Go to the File menu in legacy and select backup family file.
Find somewhere to put the file and give it a name, I usually add the date for future reference, eg legacy_030506

Once this is done, go to the File menu again and select File Maintenance then Check/repair.

This should check the database for errors and with any luck should be able to correct the cause.

Can't promise this will work, but its certainly worth a try.

Adrian

Thanks.
I did that, and it seems to have helped.  I looked at the error log it gave, and it says on marriage had a wife entered that wasn't female...so I think that had some thing to do with it.  How on earth a male wife got in is beyond me though. :o
