Title: question about ancestryireland - need help please - ANSWERED
Post by: FeeJay on Tuesday 02 May 06 14:10 BST (UK)
I'm finding it quite difficult to follow the instructions for this site. Can you tell me if the £6 that you pay only allows you to search one name?

I have found that my GG Grandparents came from Co Antim and as my GG Grandmother had an relatively unusual name, Cogie, I found her entry very easily.

There was only one entry for her and I've viewed this.

Now it says 'No. records available to request' is 4 but there aren't anymore. Are the other 4 views just going to be wasted. This is very expensive and frustrating.

Thanks

FeeJay

Im Afraid so FeeJay thats the part of that site i dont agree with, if there had of been five names that matched you could have viewed all five and found yours no matter which way you look at it your being charged £6 for one persons details Birth /or Marriage and thats that. i wish you could swop between names and marriage and births with the other 4.

Colette

Ps i got to look at 5 Margaret Mullan marriages for £6 and none of them were mine  :'(

That must be incredibly frustrating, Colette. I suppose I should just be relieved I found some of the information that I was looking for! I think I'll post the names I'm looking for on here and hope someone knows them

sorry just needed to add my five pence worth

It is great if you have family names that pass down lots of generation but I have found that lots of my relatives that should be there are not or the name is spelled differently so you can miss them being there...eg kirkpatrick ..transcribed as kilpatrick

So Feejay...post away and hopefully we can find them

Steve

hi, i would just like to say that all the information supplied can be wrong, i did a look up for margaret mcnamee and the site showed her mother to be mary duffy! i then checked with the priest and he said no her name was breslin, the name duffy was above the name breslin and so it was copied wrong

It's important to remember that this site does not claim to be 100% accurate.  I have used it quite a bit and found it useful in about 90% of occasions but it does contain some errors

Thanks for all your replies.

I have learned 2 very valuable lessons from this site:

1. ALWAYS read the small print. :o

2. Ask here first. :)

I really can't afford to spend £6 for every piece of information from the net.
