Title: 1871 census look up please

Looking for Joseph Clark and family  on the 1871 census.

On the 1881 census it states that Joseph was born in Christchurch Hants and the children born London area. It also states that he was a widow. The family lived at 7 Albert Terrace London.

It would be great to find out who his wife was , as she was alive on the 1871 census.

There were several Joseph's but this looks the most likely candidate, but if it's not right let me know and I'll look again!!

26 Lt Earl St, St Giles in the Field, Finsbury (RG10/352, folio 11 page 16)

Joseph Clark  Head  48  Green Grocer ?Foreman  born Hants Christchurch
Margaret Clark  Wife  42  born Cornwall, Helstone
Sophia Clark  Daur  11  Scholar  Mddx Upper Holloway

There is also another family at the same address so don't know if it was a boarding house or something.

I could not find a marriage record or death record for Mary G

If she was 22 as reported in 1871 Census, she would have been 15 when she had her first child Joseph C. I am not sure about the Austin I reported as in 1881 there is an Arthur of the same age.

Thats my family at 8 Albert Terrace.

I think that Austin and ( Arthur on 1881 census ) must be the same person right age, born same place.
Sons Joseph  and Charles type up.
Francis is a puzzle ( aged 4months ) as I have a Clara ( my great grandma )born 1871 same  place.  Maybe she was called two different names.

I agree that Mary G was a bit young to have Joseph plus Charles maybe her age is wrong. Big gap between her and her husband!!.
Mary G also had another child born 1887 called Edward, perhaps she died in childbirth !!

Yes  Frances and Clara are the same person

March 1871 Birth March Q 1871

Clark Frances Clara  Kensington  1a 183

Kensington is Reg. District for Hammersmith

If Joseph was a widow on 1881 Census, are you sure that Mary G had a child called Edward in 1887.

Thanks for sorting out the Francis and Clara bit.

Sorry my mistake, in my rush to reply, I should have put 1877 for Edwards birth year.  ( taken from the 1881 census )

So Mary G must have died between 1877 and 1881.

Strange because there is a death

Mary Grace Clark age 2 Dec Q 1878 Pancras 1b 124.

Perhaps there was another child.
