Title: house dwelling
Post by: Greyhound on Friday 28 April 06 18:29 BST (UK)
Could anyone out there help with the following.

I am trying to trace when a particular house ( 291 Millfield lane Haydock Lancashire) was built, so I can check out my G/G parents.
I have looked at a map around 1859 which drew a blank, is there any web sites  that would give this info.

I have an idea that in later yrs,  a bridge was built dividing Millfield Lane, so becoming Millfield lane/Kenyon's Lane
thanks
Ste.

Hi Greyhound, do you know if the house is still in existence?  My hubby is from Haydock and his family live on Kenyons Lane.  I have been reliably informed that Millfield Lane is still there but they have no idea of which numbers.

Do you have access to Ancestry or any census info as you could narrow it down to a ten year time scale.  If not let me know and I can have a look for you over the weekend.

Or, possibly ask the land registry?

The best place to check is the local reference library.  In my experience most of them hold plans of the local town at about ten year intervals.

Another possibility is to use

If you put in the name of the Lane there is a reasonable chance you will find the appropriate planning negotiations are in the local record office.

first of all,
thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Sorry to say but the part of Millfield lane I am interested in is no longer standing, I am pretty local myself so know the area. If you come up from Kenyon's Lane,  291 Millfield Lane used to be the first house on the right, there are still a few houses at the top on the left. The only info I do have is that my Grandma died in 1966 and she lived at 291, Millfield Lane, the houses on the right dwindled away after this being finally demolished in ?????

Greyhound.
