Hi Sue.. would it be possible to look at the 1891 census for Joes Wife..shes called Helen Ballard on the 91 she was b 1855...
the problem Im having is that
Joseph Bellows b 1855 Shirley Southampton is recorded as Joseph Ballard
and Joseph Bellows wife Ellen looks like being recorded as Helen Ballard also..does that make any sense? lol..its doing my head in!!??
Hopefully if i am right..then this Helen ballard should be born in DROXFORD..
Fingers crossed!!! ::)

is there a chance it could be emily?
-
Hi Karen. no dont think so...
she starts off on the 1901 as
Ellen Billows
aged 45
a hawker
from Southampton
with her hub
Joseph Billows
45
Docker
Droxford Sthptn
the 1891 seems to find them as Helen( now with an H) Billows and Bellard depending on which site you look at
Then the name then goes to
BELLOWS
for her and her hub on the 1881 both of them are hawkers in Sthptn
but hubs birthpace now changes to Shirley, Sthptn!!!..lol
The 1861 and 71 finds Joseph now listed as BALLARD!!!!
Confused you will be!! :D

Can you give the full details of the 1891 census?
