Freystrop and then trying to find a link with another family in the Hubberston/Hakin/Lower Weston areas. And you? I see you have Llangwm on your list.

Hi, I know this post was 2 years old but just come across this and I am a Philpin hailing from Llangwm.  My name is Andy, and I have been able to trace my family back to 1780 on the Philpin side but then becomes a bit ???  If you do not mind me asking but what is your link to the surname Philpin.  Look forward to hearing from you - All the Best, Andy

Andy

Good to hear from you and it doesn't matter at all that the post was two years ago - what are a couple of years when you are searching for ancestors?

In the past my main line of research was the GRUNNAH line from Freystrop but I have also came across a line of GRUNNAHs in Hubberston. And... still cannot find the link.....yet! In the 1841 Census for Hubberston (HO/107/1449/10) James GRUNNAH has a wife called Martha of 36 nee PHILPIN. I am afraid I don't know any more than that. Does this help in any way?

Oh Ducks -- I have just found this thread.  I went to the records office last October.  If I'd known you wanted something I would have looked for you!  I had a fantastic time there - I was handling the original documents which was a thrill.  The staff there were so helpful and I managed to get back a further 3 generations (well 2 with a possibility of a 3rd)

Hello,  I noticed your message about Philpin's from Llangwm and was wondering if my Philpin appears on your tree.  Her details are as follows:

Mary Philpin b. approx 1802 Llangwm
married James Brock b. 1800 Llangwm
Children:
Mary 1828
Jane 1829
James 1833
John 1835
Thomas 1836
Rebecca 1840
Martha 5 Feb 1844

It would be great to find out who Mary's parents were.

Hello kholman

I don't know if I shall be able to help you but I shall give you what information I have.

My ancestors were GRUNNAH from Freystrop but I have discovered a line in Hubberston near Milford Haven but, so far, cannot find the link between the two families. In the 1841 Census for Hubberston there is a James GRUNNAH, 39 married to Martha (nee PHILPIN), 36 and I believe she was a widow when she married him.

I hope this might be of some help to you.

Many thanks for getting in touch.

I do already have that information but appreciate your sending it to me.Can you now see why I have problems linking the two families?

Happy New Year! Anyone out there interested in the Rees family of Haverfordwest? I am looking for John and Mary Rees who had a child, Esther, baptised in 1787 at St. Mary's.

Cheers!

Llanstadwell Mrges ;
16 Nov 1782 John Rees of the parish of St Mary’s in Haverfordwest to Mary Gwyther o.t.p. were married by banns.

Haverfordwest Baptism ;
The following where baptised to John & Mary Rees
Esther 22 July 1787, Mary 04 June 1789, Mary 25 Mar 1791 William 28 May 1796, Ann 28 May 1796
I suspect one of either Wm or Ann were born circa 1794.

Hi Oriel,

Thank you so much! I am still not sure how this rootschat works, so bear with me. I also replied to you via Ancestry. A bit of overkill perhaps, but I want to be sure you know how pleased and grateful to you I am.

I am overwhelmed by your post and the great pic. I have been looking for Esther for so long. She is my mitochondrial line and also my favourite ancestor. Don't know why. And now, I now have sibs to follow and places to investigate, with great thanks to you.

All the best and happy hunting!

Cheers!
