Title: Harcup Harckup Harkup Isle of Sheppy

Please can anyone solve this mystery for me. 
James Harckup 1851 Census
same as James Harcup 1861 census married to Sarah nee Studd - they have a daughter Ellen born 1864 ...........then she marries again in 1868 and I can't find James's death anywhere between 1863 and 1868.

Thank you very much, may I ask where you found the information, I'd searched on Ancestry.  I also have the KFHS CD that covers Sheppey and its not on there either.
James Harckup as he appears in the 1851 Census was born about 1824 his marriage record (1849) has no fathers name given.

 Any ideas how I could get further back.  I can't find his birth details either although the Census says he was born at Eastchurch.

Did you view the actual images for the death indexes on ancestry?

Perhaps he was buried in Eastchurch or one of the other churchyards on the Island if he can't be found in the burial records for Half Way Cemetery, Sheerness (I assume that is what is on your CD)?

Have you looked for a baptism for James in the parish registers for Eastchurch - I can't see him in 1841 but there was a HARCUP family there.

I just searched on Ancestry for HARCUP HARCUPP HARKUP AND HARCKUP nothing came up that looked promising.

How would I look at the actual images for the death indexes?

You go to the home page http://www.ancestry.co.uk

select England & Wales, BMD Index (under the heading "More Collections") then select Search the complete images - Search the Death index images

Search for Hark* died 1864 and then select the Apr May Jun 1864 image - move to the next image :)
