Title: Marriage in Amesbury - James North

Hello, :D

I'm looking for the marriage of James North and Sarah Burford which according to Free BDM, happened in Amesbury in the Mar quarter of 1849.

I am looking for the witnesses that appear on this record to help with parentage.

Also looking for James' birth which was between 1823 and 1826, taken on census records.

Any help would be much appreciated. ;D

Hi Karenn,
Had a look for your James North marriage but could not see it in Amesbury.   Trouble with freeBMD is it gives the District where an event took place not the Parish.   He could have been married in a parish church outside Amesbury town eg Boscombe, Durrington, Shrewton etc etc
The cert should say where.

Nice to hear from you again. :D Another one of mine also married in Amesbury, according to BDM and it turned out to be Durnford. If your going again could you please look in Durnford and Woodford?  ::) (their children were born in Woodford)

Hi Karenn,

Bingo :) I decided to check Woodford first and there it was

13 January, by banns, James North, of age, bachelor, servant, Lower Woodford, John North, shepherd and Sarah Burford, of age, spinster, servant, Lower Woodford, Thomas Burford, weaver.   Witnesses:  Henry Blewdon and Elizabeth North

The only baptism I found in Woodford was 31 Aug 1834, Emma, d, of John and Ann North, Lower Woodford, shepherd.

Not in Durnford either only baptisms of children of James and Elizabeth North.

Well spotted! Emma is James' sister. It's a shame that James' birth is not listed in Woodford either.  But a very good result anyway. :-*
