Title: Areas of Leeds?
Post by: Starry on Thursday 20 April 06 23:24 BST (UK)
I have an ancestor who was from Leeds. On two censuses, she claims to have been born in Wortley. In the others, it just says Leeds.

Now, onto my query...

In 1841, I have found a person of the same name, living in Holbeck, which is where her first child was born in 1841.

I have found her baptism on the IGI, but it comes under Rothwell.

Is it the same person, or shall I go back to the drawing board?

(I don't have her marriage cert yet)

I would go back to the 'drawing board'.   You need to obtain more information. See all Census.  Any siblings, these could help to prove if the right ancestor.
I've an ancestor in all census'  and birth places are three, between Methley and Wakefield.  Finally pinned him down.

Hello.

All three places you have mentioned show on the NBI2 map as
being on top of each other, so they must all be within a stones
throw of each other or within a mile at best?.

Mike.

Thanks for your replies :)

I think, until I get the marriage cert (in a few years lol), I'll assume it's the same one.
