Hi,
I looking for information on the Mahon family of Carlow. In particular, an Andrew/Andy Mahon who married a Mary Redmond around 1838. Their children were probably all born in Carlow and include Margaret (b1846), Catherine (b1849), Bridget (b1846), John (b 1852) and Annie (b1854). There were also 5 other children whose names we don't know. Mary Redmond was widowed before migrating to Victoria, Australia in 1864.
The only information we have about Andrew Mahon is that he was a miller. We don't at this stage know when or where he was born, or exactly when or where he died.
Andrew's daughter Bridget was baptised in Coolnamarra, Borris, Carlow in 1846, however we don't know where the other children were baptised.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Regards,
Jane.

Jane - I noticed that Andrew Mahon is listed as living in Ballyroughan (lower), Ullard Civil Parish, on Griffiths Valuation. Using this townland I went back to the Borris Catholic Registers and found the following entry; 24 January, 1843 , James Mohan, parents Andrew Mohan and Mary Redmonds, sponsors are Thomas Dalton and Anne Dalton in the townland of Ballyroughan. That's the good news. The bad news is I couldn't find any other entries from 1838 to 1852, but will check around some more. Brian
