Title: BURNETT in Yorkshire, one-name-study
Post by: Wilbur on Saturday 15 April 06 14:32 BST (UK)
I've been involved in a personal one-name-study of the surname BURNETT and variants in Yorkshire for more than 10yrs and have built up a large database of information.  I would be pleased to share this information and to compare notes with anyone researching BURNETT ancestors who had their origins in Yorkshire.

;Dhi, possibly not a relative, but my G.G.G.Grandfather was Samuel Burnett born 1796 in Halifax, Wife Ann (Lister) children Harriot born 1828, Henry 1834, Wales (later known as Wallace)born 1839. In 1841 they all lived at Spice cake lane Halifax.
Have more info, but not worth sharing if there is no connection.
New to rootschat, and only been researching since nov and tonight only just found this part of the site!
Please reply if you feel there could be a link

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your posting, I am originally from Manchester the research I have done ( quite new to this) I have traced to Halifax as I wrote. Since then I have found my GGGG granfather Henry Burnett again Halifax, seems the family were all stonemasons.Unfortunately I do not know where Yeadon and Guiseley is in relation to Halifax, however it may be worth us exchanging some info to ascertain if there is a connection.

Dear Monica,

I only joined RootsChat.com today, so am just finding out how to navigate and respond to messages. Yeadon and Guisely Parishes are closer to Leeds than Halifax, so most of my Burnetts were in those two parishes except for my great-grandmother who married and eventually ended up in Darwen, Lancs.  I don't have any Burnetts who were in Halifax.   Sincerely, Linda

Hi

I am trying to find information concerning a Christoper Burnet who married a Mary Parker in 1769. in Heptonstalls. He was not born in Heptonstall. Do you know where he was born.

Regards

Ken

Hi Bill

I've researched the Burnetts that you've mentioned too.  I've got back via my mother to my ancestors John William/John/Wallace/Samuel/Henry and Christoper b 1725.  I'd be very interested in hearing from you with a view to swapping notes.  If you wish send me an email to my personal email address, which is (*)
I don't know whether others on this site will see this, if they do and want to contact me, feel welcome to do so.
all the best Chris W
