Hi Migky
I would suggest next step to look through the birth indexes (view the images at http://www.ancestry.co.uk) and note all BASSETT births from 1914 onwards that have mother's maiden name of McILVENNA (or something that looks very similar - there might be some mistranscriptions in the spelling of something like that) - these are likely to be children of the couple :)
You can also do the same looking for likely deaths of Charles Thomas and Florrie (bear in mind Flora and Florence too) but there might be quite a few with a name like BASSETT :-\
Hope this helps to get you started

Mary died soon after her birth.i found a cousin Sarah bassett born 1917 Jan1/4 but she died soon after her birth . can not find any thing on charels or Florrie .

I've found Genes Reunited really helpful in going forwards-and that has also helped to fill gaps and anomalies in my tree

Hi Migky,if you can get to Central Library in Manchester you might be able to trace forward using the Street and Alphabetical sections of their many Trade directories .The electoral roll can be useful too,but only covers Manchester.
I've recently traced a few people forward for a friend from 1901 to 1954
Along with the GRO indexes and Lancs bmd/free bmd you might get quite a lot of info
-
thanks ,i keep saying i will take time out to go and have a look round at manchester library .do you have to book to look at stuff . and how do you get started there.

Try to get there early-9am if poss to guarantee a microfilm reader-you don't have to book.
The trade directories are in filing cabinets at the end of one of the rows, the electoral registers are further down in a filing cabinet in an aisle.
The readers are on the first floor, turn left at top of stairs or right if you're getting the lift, you'll pass the local studies unit-where to go for help, free internet access to family/local history sites, maps etc/
Just find the film you want and follow the instructions on the front of the machine.
You can also look up Parish registers there for Weddings/baptisms etc, they've got books to tell you the number of film to use for which church.
If you are stuck, just ask someone or ask at the desk :)
-
well i got no excuse now .i will have to make time . it's a bit off putting when you first go any where new, but like you said .JUST ASK . many thanks migky ;)

Quite sure - I didn't edit: just added a precautionary note because you say you want to trace the family forward
