HI,
I have several generations of George Richardsons, starting in the IOW then to Portsmouth. Does anyone else have an interest in them and their families? The last one was Inspector of Shipwrights at HM Dockyard and was retired by 1901.
Kindest regards - Jean

Do you know anything about the Richardsons at the end of the 18th century? I'm looking for information about 3 sisters - Louisa, Farrar Sophia and Hannah. The first two were the first and second wives of Richard Lacy, Major-General in the Royal Artillery; the third one married William d'Aranda. It seems as if the Richardsons may have been living in the London area in the 1780s/1790s (unsure of this) but they moved to the Southampton area later on.
Thanks for any help.
Kind regards
Angela

Google Books has a scanned version of The Gentleman's Magazine from 1802, which contains the following entry:
"Marriages
1802, Jan. At Stock, in Essex, Thomas White, esq. of Duke Street Westminster, to Miss Charlotte Richardson, of Stock House; and R. J. J. Lacy, esq. of the royal regiment of artillery, to Miss Louisa Richardson of the same house."

Could the Charlotte be another sister from your group?
-
Many, many thanks for this info. I think Charlotte must indeed be another sister. It would make sense as one of RJJ Lacy's daughters was named Charlotte.
I didn't have the marriage date for RJJ and Louisa either so this has been a great find.
Best regards

Not a problem.
The Edinburgh Magazine from the same year has a similar entry on page 76.

And the Monthly Magazine on page 88.

I am assisting my father with his research, and my GG Grandfather (Frederick George Barham) was married to Charlotte Louisa Lacy on 4 October 1886. According to the 1861 census, she was born c.1857 (aged 4 in 1861, at Alverstoke, Hampshire), and was the daughter of James Lacy (born c. 1805) and Harriet (born c. 1819).
My father has copies of family letters relating to RJJ Lacy's service Spain. I don't recall the precise family link between Charlotte Louisa Lacy and Richard John James Lacy (her grandfather?), but I will check with my father and let you know.
Kind regards,
A.

Hi,
Your Charlotte Louisa Lacy was born in the last quarter of 1856 at Clay Hall in Alverstoke. She had a brother, James born 1857 who was my great-great-grandfather.
Their father was James John Lacy, born 24 Nov 1804 in Plumstead, Kent and his father was Major-General Richard John James Lacy (photo of early portrait enclosed).
Are you on GenesReunited or Facebook? If so, we could contact each other directly.

Hello,
Please excuse any hesitancy on my part but I have just signed up for this forum.
You mention R.J.J Lacy's daughters - was there a son?
I'm trying to find a link between R.J.J. Lacy and his apparent granddaughter. (Please see attachment)

Hi Gottfried
Welcome to RootsChat :)
Louisa Isabella Hillier was the daughter of Henry Bentinck Curry Hillier and his wife Ann Lacy. Ann was the eldest daughter of Major Richard John James Lacy, Royal Artillery. Henry married Ann in Gillingham, Kent in 1822.

Hi Nell,
Thank you so much for this!
I'd tracked down the wedding in Gillingham but got lost trying to connect Ann to R.J.J.Lacy.
I'm interested in the famous Victorian racing cyclist George Lacy Hillier and I'm starting by looking at his ancestry.
Best regards
