I am seeking a look up and information from the 1841/1851 census for my 4 x great grandmother Ann FREEMAN born around 1759 widow of Solomon FREEMAN who died in 1833 and is buried in REEPHAM Churchyard.
Ann herself died in 1855 aged 96 years and is likewise buried in Reepham Churchyard so I presume she would be living in that area at the time of the census. I have no birth information and hoping that I may get this from the census records.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanking you in advance for any help.
Best Regards

Soloman Freeman mar Ann Kingswood 1785 Reepham (Lawres deanery marriages)

Found her in 1851, but the writing is so bad it is difficult to make out :(
H0107/2105/66/2
Reepham
William Freeman head age 61 occupation??? born Reepham
Lucy Friend sister age 61 housekeeper born Rand
Ann Freeman mother age 91 born South Willingham
Elizabeth Perrin age 6 child born Lincs.
Maybe someone else can have a look and make out more detail for you :)
-
Have been back and looked again at the census, I think William was a farmer of 8 acres. But as the son of Ann, it doesn't make a lot of sense as the index gives his birth as 1818 and his sister lucy as 1787 ???
Really do need someone else's opinion on this one :) :) :)

I agree - after cleaning up the image it looks like it says Farmer of 8 acres employing others
-
Looking at the image, I would say that William's age was 54 - what can be seen of the 5 resembles the 5s lower down the page. The 4 is more debatable. He was "Farmer 8 acres employing no Labs"
Note that the PERRIN girl was a "nurse child" - in modern parlance, the nearest equivalent is "foster child".
The 1841 census has
642-13/7
Reepham
Ann FREEMAN 80
William 40 AgLab
Elizabeth 10
Charlotte 2
-
Charlotte FREEMAN 12 Spridlington appears on the 1851 census as daughter of Thomas FREEMAN (b 1803 Reepham) and Elizabeth (1803 Nettleton) - her baptism is on the IGI 1838.

re Ann's parentage... , the John Kingswood -Elizabeth Clark marriage, shown in IGI, 1759 Reepham, is the only Kingswood marriage around the right time in Westwold deanery marriages.
If so ,IGI gives you two John Kingswood baps 20 years earlier. The best geographic fit is John son of Henry and Ann, 1737, Benniworth.
Most probable marriage for that is Henry Kingswood- Ann Torrington (wid) 1730 ,Alvingham (Louthesk deanery marriages)

I am absolutely bowled over by all this wonderful help. This site and it's members really take some beating. I must honestly say it's taken weeks to decide to finally post and give a search for Ann a try on here.
The name Kingswood has resolved a big mystery from the death certificate of my greatgrandmother Lucy Alice Jennings MS EDE in 1906. It states her mother's name as Kingswood Elizabeth EDE MS Freeman. This has sent me on the wrong trail for almost 4 years. It has only been recently that someone kindly found Elizabeth Freeman born 1791 in Linwood. I had taken the Kingswood as being a mistake for Linwood. Now all is revealed.
Prior to all of your wonderful work I only had the birth of Lucey Freeman in 1787 and Ann 1788, a Solomon b 1793 and possibly a John Edward Freeman who married a Jane Milson in 1829 in South Willingham. IGI gives plenty of children of this marriage but unable to establish his birth place or if he is a son of Ann and Solomon. I believe there is a link with this family.
I have put together many Freeman names with first names that seem familiar but had been unable to link them to Solomon Freeman and Ann. This is going to open a whole new area of research and I am so grateful to all of you.
Thanking you all for this help. I've struggled for a long while as I'm not too good on the local history.
VERY BEST REGARDS

Once again , thanks for all of your help. I have just found a solitary entry in my file that would appear to be the William FREEMAN mentioned in the 1851 census that you kindly looked up for me. I had previously entered his death and burial details which has him dying in 1863, aged 63 years. Now we know to whom he belongs. This would indicate he must have been born around 1799-1800. Single people do sometimes get confused over their age!
From Reepham Churchyard
Freeman, William, no dates, age: 63yr, bur. 24 Apr 1863, yard #1, of Repham
Is anyone able to confirm who John Edward FREEMAN who married Jane MILSON in 1829 in Reepham belongs too? I guess he was born around 1800 too. The family appear to be living around Swinderby Lincoln when their daughter Jane was christened in January 1840. Other children are christened in Asterby, Sibsy, Swinderby and Goulceby
Best regards

Well done Nessie. This is the family I was asking about. I thank you for this help. It confirms that he was born in Reepham, so I will now have to see if I can link him Solomon and Ann Freeman. Their first daughter is named Ann and all the sons have Biblical names. Solomon here is the 5th son. I didn't have the son Thomas either. Fingers crossed, have made so much progress thanks to all you lovely people.

A tinker? :) Many many thanks Geoff, much appreciated. The elder children seem to have left the nest pretty young although I've picked up Elijah, Samuel, John Lazarus in the 1881 census. Ann and Sarah are also their daughters. Have a Harriet b 1828 and Edward b1832 from IGI but they may have died young, married. The males may have had to go to the army at that time.
Today has been a very happy day for me, I can't thank you all enough.
Very Best Regards

Hi While researching the same family I came by this conversation, I don't have much to add but, Solomon Freeman would appear to be my x5 great grandfather, so I guess Ann Kingswood would also be my x5 great grandmother? So hello to you best wishes Annie Jeffs of somerset

My gg-grandfather was Elijah Hubbard Freeman , son of John Edward freeman and Jane Milson.
