Hello,
I am looking for Mary Mason, born around 1788 in Great Kelk.
Thanks to Nessie finding her on the 1851, 1861 & 1871 census's in Sewerby, I already have quite a lot of information on her.
She married Richard Mason in 1813 in the Bridlington area. I don't know when Richard died, so he may or may not be on the 1841 census. If he has died before the 1841 census it will narrow my search down to between 1829 (his last known child) & 1841 or if he is alive in 1841 it will narrow my search to between 1841 & 1851.
Mary Sowersby born around 1788 in Great Kelk (or Foston)
died in the June 1/4 of 1872, in the Bridlington area, age 83.
On the 1851, 61 & 71 census she was living in Sewerby with her daughter Ester Maria & her son in law James Turner. She was described as a widow.
Her other children are:
Thomas Mason, born around 1813 in Sewerby
John Mason, born around 1817 in the Bridlington area
William Mason, born around 1820 in the Bridlington area
Elizabeth Mason, born around 1822 in the Bridlinton area
Jane Mason, born around 1824 in the Bridlington area
Richard Mason, born around 1827 in the Bridlington area
Sowersby Mason born around 18329 in Sewerby
Thank you

Hello Sandra,
Thank you for finding my family on the 1841 census. I know having looked for other family members on the 1841 census in York library that it takes a long time. I now know roughly when Richard must have died. I am hoping to visit Beverly archives sometime within the next two years and this will help concentrate my search.
I think Samuel maybe Richards brother. I put Mason into the IGI & looked at all that came up. If they came from the Bridlington area I made a note of them & their parents name. I then put them in date order (It took ages!!). I think my Richard was Christened in 1785 making him 16 when Samuel was born. Unfortunatley the mothers name isn't given & in the Bridlington area around that time there are 3 Richard Masons. Hopefully I will find out which are from the Sewerby area when I visit Beverley. I am hoping that all 3 are not from the Sewerby area - or I will scream!!
Thanks for your help,
Louise

Her husband may have had another christian name------so any Scotts in Sewerby Bridlington 1841 would help
