Hi there
I've just got the application for naturalisation for an ancestor from 1856 which is very exciting. The birth place is given but it seems to be in Hungarian. I wondered if anyone would be able to help me pinpoint the location. I have attached the relevant bit from the application.
Yours hopefully

Hi Sarah
I wonder if it is:
Vorosegyhaza
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/HU/21/Vorosegyhaza.html
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/HU/a/V/246/
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/HU/
but on further looking, perhaps better:
Directory of Cities and Towns in Pest Megye, Hungary
town of Veresegyhaz

Pest (or Pesth):

http://www.fallingrain.com/world/HU/5/Pest.html
"Pesther Comitat"
"Pest" is the place. Pesther is similar to a german saying "Englander" meaning "of England" , so "Of Pest"
http://www.genealogy.ro/cont/1.htm
Comitat: I think is the German or Romanian word for County.
The Hungarian word for County is: Megye.
So born in Veresegyhaz?, County of Pest? (lit: Pest-er County)
[The other town I thought it could be, the first one above, Vorosegyhaza, appears to be in Tolna Megye (or Tolna County)}
Hope this helps
Cheers
