Hi
I have a death registration in the above district & year .... I am sending for the death cert, but in the meantime it would be useful to know the areas this RD covered......
unfortunately, I can't track down a website to help :( Please would someone either tell me the places or point me in the correct direction online?
thanks
Rosemary ;D

hi Rosemary
Have you looked at http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/reg/sry.htm?
It's still difficult to work out exactly where the death might have occurred as there are quite a few locations which come under North Surrey and East Surrey. I was born in the 1950s in Guildford which was registered as NW Surrey.
Don't know if that helps.......you may just have to wait for the certificate! Painful, I know!

Hey Clare
...yes, I'd looked there & come away puzzled - the Reg Dist is given as Surrey NE in the GRO Index, but this doesn't seem to exist as a replacement area for one of the old (pre1930) reg dists....
I shall wait for the cert, but had hoped for a pointer or 2 before that
thanks for looking

Surrey North East office closed in 1965 and the post 1837 registers moved to either Merton or Sutton.
This is the link to find out about offices which seem to have disappeared:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/RegOffice/
Still doesn't tell us exactly what area it covered :(

At around the time mentioned I had quite a few family members recorded as SURREY NE. They all lived in the Richmond, Mortlake, Sheen and Barnes area.
All the very best,
Fulhamster.
