Researching the name of WORSHIP in Hunts - especially Abbotsley and Eynesbury areas.
Our line moved from Huntingdonshire to Bradford in Yorkshire and then into Scotland - Edinburgh.

What an unusual name !
If you check the 1881 Census you find that there are only 67 Worships give or take a few.
Most of the Worships are in Norfolk showing 32, then lincolnshire 8, Kent 7, Hunts 7, and Suffolk 5.
Best Wishes
Sarah :)

It is an unusual name, -almost as bad as Orlando for Google purposes!
My husband's line starts in Hunts and then his branch moves north to Bradford then into Scotland.
We are considering registering this with the Guild of ONS....

Hello Cyril.
That does not appear on my husband's tree at all....yet!
My husband's line is in Eynesbury, Abbotsley.
Other names that connect in the same areas are HAYLOCK, GILBERT.
Also CHAPMAN from Shingay & HAYLOCK from Guilden Morden.
If I do come across anything, I will certainly be in touch.

Hi.
Thank you for your promt reply. Ann Worship was born in Eynesbury , 1805 and was married to William Dean 21st September 1827 in St Neots. They had 7 children and seemed to moved from St Neots to Biggleswade and then back to St Neots.
Looking through my notes I have another James Worship married to Catherine Walker taken from the parish records 1813-1836 in Eynsbury I think they were married around 1832.
I hope this is usefull
regards
Cyril

Hi Cyril,
I have had another look at the file today. I have a Daniel WORSHIP born 1814 in Eynesbury the son of James Worship.
Daniel married Francis GILBERT in 1838 in Abbotsley.
Is the above mentioned Daniel brother to the Ann you mentioned born in 1806. I have no further details about James or his spouse.

Hi
Because the parish records for Eynesbury can only be viewed in Huntingdon I'm having difficulty with my research. Someone sent me a list of Shepherd marriages in Eynesbury and one was an Elizabeth Worship marrying James Shefford / Shepherd 1762. That puts her birth about 1741 ish. anyone know of her?
Regards
Dave

Just been to the HRO looking for Shepherds and noted down Worships in Eynesbury. 1720 - 89 ish if you are interested. I think my Elizabeth Worship may have been the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth being baptised 1739.

Hi, I am a descendant of Ann Worship bapt 1790 Eynesbury. Daughter of James & Ann.
Do you know if this was James & Ann Allison who married in southoe 1769 & had Elizabeth in 1770 & James in 1776 or whether there was another James & Ann loose in the area?
Thanks, Lesley

There were no marriages of a James Worship in Hunts after 1754 other than the Southoe one in 1769, until 1797 in Eynesbury, when James (presumably the son) married Jane Godfrey of St Neots, and again in 1802 in Eynesbury when James widower married Mary Bellamy of St Neots widow

Hi,
I have a family by the name of Worship in Lincolnshire. Thomas Worship, b c 1781, died 1821, buried Spalding. Married Elizabeth Smith 1806 Spalding. There is a record for Thomas on IGI, but it's not an extracted record. Another name I am also researching is BLESSED, also back to Lincolnshire.
Regards .. Lyn :)

Not sure if Cyril is still looking for the parents of William Dean, but there's a baptism in St Neots on 7 May 1807, parents George and Sarah, labourer.
George Dean widower married Sarah Harlott in St Neots in 1804. There's an earlier marriage of George Dean to Ann Richardson in St Neots in 1800.
FindMyPast shows 4 burials of Ann Dean in St Neots in 1804, but it might be two entries duplicated in their index.
