I think Dairymaid !! ::)

Well, given the OP's comment, that would make for an interesting piece of family history were a Cowman to have turned into a Dairymaid or vice versa :o

What is a Cowman?
-
The definition from the old occupations dictionaries of a Cowman is:
A person who kept cows, usually for milk which he sold door to door.

l think that l would safely read it as ?airymaid, so the nearest thing would be Dairymaid. l would add that it should show as the occupation of a female.
-
Hi all,
I don't think it's Dairymaid. The letters at the end, if they were "id", would be very poorly formed in relation to the other letters.
I've photoshopped in the missing bits of the letters so you can see how they form "Dairyman" - once in red to see my additions, and then in all black so you can read it better.

I concur with opinion that it says Dairyman. The flowery style of the initial 'D' and the way the 'y' flows to the 'm' is consistent with the curly end to the 'n'.
I don't think it's Dairymaid because if it were, there ought to be an obvious dot over the second 'i' and also the 'i' and 'd' wouldn't be so small.
