Title: ADAMS/GAMBLE Publican Ballymoney
Post by: vjames on Monday 27 March 06 22:28 BST (UK)
Looking for information on Martha GAMBLE nee ADAMS (1823 - 1919). Family records show her as a publican in Ballymoney. Her marriage records (1946) show her living in Claghey. Any information on pubs from 1840 - 60 would be welcome.
thank you

Hello Val,

What denomination were the Adams and Gamble families? Were they membersof the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland), Methodists or   Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
