Hi back again....

In 1879  I have a marriage between Hamilton Brown aged 26 to a Christina Johnstone aged 24
I think on a census his occupation was a Plumber/Journeyman
Address stated at time of marriage as: 3 Laurie Street South Leith
His father John Brown Merchant Seaman
His mother (cannot read well) looks like Marfare or ms. Scott

Her father was James Johnston/e also merchant seaman
Her mother  was Jessie Johnston/e also known as Ms Nimmo
Witnesses were Robert and George Atkinson and a Gilder Jackson
Hope this is what you are looking for .   marcie

Hi,
I also have details of her death and the birth of her son if you want it just let me know.
Hamilton remarried some years later an Isabella Bea and they had another son called Frederick
I think Christina's son was called Edward James or James Edward.

I think Christina's birth is on the IGI for 1855 in Leith with parents listed as James Johnston and Janet Nimms.

edit: There is also MaryAnn Johnston 1857 parents James Johnston and Janet Nimmo.

You may have to check all possible name variants to find the whole family, if you check the 1861 census it should show if you have found them all hopefully.

Thank you for trying to assist.

This is a very old post and I did forget that it was there.

Unfortunately since I posted it, I have found that I was barking up the wrong tree and have since found out my Johnston's were from Dundee Scotland.

Once again I thank all for any assistance.

You are perfectly welcome, if you do find that there is a connection, just let me know and I will sent the information i have again.  there is someone called Douglas P who has Johnstone and Nimmo in his family tree perhaps you will find more with him.

Good Luck, hope your research is fruitful
