My late mother was born in Castleford in 1908. The address was CASTLE HOUSE, St Mary's Place. I am trying to find out what Castle House was in those days - a nursing home, mother and baby home, or what? Can anyone from that area help please.
Stella.

Hi Stella,
St. Mary's place still exists, but not Castle House, the only large(ish) building there is a scooter workshop, which used to be a farm house,(so I was told this morning).
I will be going to the local library soon, so will see if they have any info, will let you know what I find out.
