Please could anyone be able to look into finding any information about Alfred John Greenhill.
He was the eldest son of Joseph Exall Greenhill and Sarah Ewans. Born 1871 in Islington,Middlesex. Married in 1907. I don't know who his wife was and if they had any children. His work was involved at the London Stock Exchange as a stockjobber as described in his fathers will. The letters he wrote to my father where post marked Rickmansworth, Herts. Unfortunately he didn't tell much about his family and only once mentioned about his 60th wedding anniversary. In his letters he mainly refer to to his younger brother Harold. His address at the time was c/o Mr D.A. Greenhill Stock Exchange, London, England. This was around 1954 to early 1960.
Alfred most likely died about August 1966. After this there no futher information to lead on to.
Thank you if can find any information on Alfred.

Hi Casalguidi,
Thank you for information.
I was in London last Oct 05, at the Probate Service, Principal Registry Family Division looking for Joseph Exall Greenhill, Will. Which I was able to obtain it and while I was waiting I had started to look Alfred's Will but not knowing when he actual died it was long job to find it and I didn't have time to look for it. On the way home I found my mother had some letters from him which I didn't know. It has given me some clues about him but there are lot of gaps to fill.
I think D.A. Greenhill is Alfred's son but do not any information to comfirm it.
Is there a electoral roll which I can look at on line dating from the 1950's onwards ?

Hi
No, I'm afraid the old electoral registers aren't online and they are mostly arranged by address only so difficult to search without an address. Local street directories were often arranged in alphabetical order so may be easier to search but, again, there's hardly anything online. It might be a good idea to post a request on the Hertfordshire Board to see if anybody can advise on the location for directories for Rickmansworth.
There is an electoral roll online for c1902 which might help ............... use the people search but you do need to enter a placename - Hertfordshire (or whatever county) would suffice http://www.b4usearch.com/
Best wishes

I am also hoping to obtain further information on A J Greenhill by tracing his descendants. At the time of Alfred's death on 24 Aug 1966 his son, Douglas Alfred Greenhill (retired stockbroker), was living at Rua Rainha Santa 30 D'Armacao de Pera, Algarve in Portugal. I don't know whether Douglas remained in Portugal or returned to the UK.
I would appreciate any posts from anyone with information on Douglas or his descendants.

Hello Aussiegreen,
Not sure if you are still looking for information about Thomas Bayley Greenhill. He was a miller at Rolvenden and I think the restored mill in that village is the one he owned. The information I have is regarding his wife Rose nee Osborne. She was the niece of Samuel Bishop (Lossenham Manor Newenden) and who in 1835, was one of the family members mentioned in his will. Rose was the daughter of his sister Mary nee Bishop (born 1751) and who married Edward Osborne. If these are the correct people I have the ancestry of Rose and happy to share such.
