Title: Shelton Parish Registers now Transcribed
Post by: Peter Hyde on Tuesday 14 March 06 00:57 GMT (UK)
I have now completed the transcription of the Shelton parish registers - or, at least as much as I plan on doing at this point.

There are 3,152 entries covering:

Baptisms     1598 - 1855   (I haven't attempted 1556 - 1598, and 1598 -
1630 have several unreadable entries)
Banns     1792 - 1892
Marriages     1596 - 1836
Burials     1595 - 1812   (I have no idea where the burials from 1812 on are)

Would those of you to whom I sent interim extractions please let me know if you want updates.  Would those of you to whom I sent nothing, please ask again.  Would those of you who want names searching, please let me know.  I will send extractions as Excel spreadsheets.

I haven't decided where to do next - those d*mn NUDDS are proving very elusive!

Regards

Hi Moira:
There are no Hambletons in the Shelton registers.  There is a Hampton, and several Hammonds.  Do you have first names or dates?
Peter

Congratulations, phyde. As one who has trawled though records with awful copies and worse handwriting, I am deeply impressed.

Could you check to see if there are any Brocks there? My lot seem to come mostly from the Depwade area.

Thanks

Thanks - I was rather hoping you would say no Brocks, so there was one village I didn't have to research. Now, another mystery to solve - where are Mum and Dad? (And who is Ann - new to me?!)

cheers

Yes I checked there first. I have the information George Smith born Shelton from his marriage to Phillis Dye in Newton Flotman in Oct 1828 - but no sign of a name for his mother and father. I am beginning to think I might have reached a dead end.
Many Thanks
Paul

Hi Peter

I tried to access Free Reg but no joy. I wonder if you can hep. I'm looking for a marriage for an Edward Richardson & I think a Mary/Margaret  around 1775-1786.

Many thanks
