I am trying to find information about the Harris family of Loughborough. Henry Harris married Elizabeth Pratt (nee Blood) in 1851 in Loughborough. Henry was a Framework Knitter. Henry and Elizabeth had a son, John Harris, born 27/3/1854 at Pinfold Gate, Loughborough. John was also a Framework Knitter. John married Sarah Blower 25/11/1872 at Emmanuel Church in Loughborough.
John & Sarah's children were Henry Harris, born 1873, Mary Elizabeth 1875, Sophia 1877, Ada 1880, John 1881, George 1884, Jane 1886 and Albert 1896. The family were living at 26 Queen Street, Loughborough, at the time of the 1881 census.
Henry was a Tinman and Coppersmith. He was resident at 35 Old King Street, on the 1901 census. He married Alice Calow (also known as Annie) and they had the following children: John 1894, Edith 1896, Albert Henry 1898, Alice Mary 1900. There may have been other children born after the date of the 1901 census.
John Harris, born 1894, married Emma Clarke on 13/2/1915. His residence at the time of marriage was 146 King Street, Loughborough. He died 22/1/1957.
I would like to find out as much as possible about all of these ancestors and their families. If anyone has access to the 1841, 1851, 1861 or 1871 census I would be very grateful if you could tell me if Henry Harris and Elizabeth had any other children besides John, born 1854. I would also like to know if I have any distant cousins who are also descended from Henry Harris and Elizabeth Pratt (nee Blood).

Interestingly, I can see a birth registration for an Ann Harris Pratt in Loughborough, June quarter 1843. Coincidence?
Edit: And indeed the IGI has a christening 14 June 1843, Ann Pratt to Elizabeth Pratt, no father mentioned. Whereas Charles is christened in 1836 to William Pratt and Elizabeth (as well as Henry in 1838). Might be worth to find out when William died!
The William Pratt / Elizabeth Blood marriage is also on the IGI: www.familysearch.org , as well as a likely christening for her.

This loks like a good match for Sarah in 1861 - hope it matches the info you have.

Hi Tanja,
Thank you so much for looking all that info up for me. It all ties in with lots of other bits and pieces I have that couldn't quite put together. I knew Elizabeth Blood had been married to a man named Pratt but didn't know any details or that they had children.
I had already found the details of Henry's second child, Thomas, on the 1881 census because his daughters are called Elizabeth Pratt Harris (b1874) and Annie Pratt Harris (b1878). I couldn't link them to Henry and family until now.
The details for Sarah Blower and family are definately the right ones. I had already found her parents (living alone) next door to Sarah and her husband John Harris on Queen Street, Loughborough, on the 1881 census. Thanks to you I now know who her siblings are as well.
All of the info you have provided has been extremelly useful and has opened up lots of new avenues for me. Thanks once again.
Harsandot.

Hi Tanja,
I had found the 1881 census record for James and Ruth at 32 Moira Street, Loughborough. James is listed as a Baghosier (cotton). Thanks to you I now know Ruth's surname. I have not been successful so far in trying to find out when William Pratt died. Free BMD throws up the two entries below for Loughborough 1838 - 1851 but this isn't a complete index.
Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page

Deaths Jun 1840
PRATT William Loughbro' 15 108

Deaths Sep 1845
PRATT William Loughbro' 15 101
I know that Henry Harris married Elizabeth Pratt (nee Blood) in the 3rd Quarter 1851. I have sent off for the marriage certificate. William Pratt definately died between 1838 (when he is registered as the father of Henry Pratt) and 1851 (when Elizabeth was listed as a widow in the census and remarried later that year). It is interesting that Ann (b1843), Thomas (b1846)and James (b1848) all have the name Pratt-Harris, whereas John (b1854) is just Harris. It throws up interesting questions about who was the father of the 3 children preceding John. Until I find out when William Pratt died it will remain a mystery. Isn't it fascinating how finding answers to genealogical queries only throws up more questions. I guess that's why it's so addictive. Once again, thanks for all of your help.

I he's one of the above mentioned deaths, I'd put my money on 1840. There's qiute a gap between the first children and Ann, and according to Ann's christening in 1843 William isn't around anymore.
