Sorry, this is only a message to say I'm interested in Birkwwods, as I see from your list you are.
Mine are mostly from Fylde / Hull.
Please reply if you're interested.

Hi Lilyrose,
Are you still looking for William Booker. I think Shoreham should be renamed 'Bookersville' there are that many of them. Here's a possibility for you from the 1841 census:
ref HO107 485/6 folio 32 page 10
Shoreham Street George Inn
William Booker age 25 ag lab born in county
(ages were rounded down so age 29 would show as 25)
Also found:
William Booker age 35 sawyer
with wife Jane and family of 5 children
(possibly a bit too old)
Do you know who he married, or where he was on subsequent censuses ?
Can look again if you're interested, if you've any more info.
xx Carol.

Hi Carol

Bookers / Bookhams - too many for such a small place !

I think the first one is him.  He did marry a Jane in 1844 (so to add to the confusion there were two William and Jane Bookers about at the same time !).   My William and Jane moved to Camberwell in about 1850 and were resident there until their deaths (Jane in 1859 and William in 1889).

William''s father was James Booker who has remarrried in 1814 to an Ann (following death of Wililam's mother Susannah), is there any sign of him ?  He would be about 60

many thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Couldn't find any sign of a James Booker in Shoreham on the 1841, so maybe he had died by then.
xx Carol.

Hi there,

I am researching the surname Booker/Bookham from Shoreham and saw you were looking for a James Booker, who were his parents and did he have any other brothers and sisters?

Hope I can be a help to you.

Hi Gareth

tentatively I have James christened on 10 Feb 1779 the son of William and Mary Bookham

Siblings could be Thomas, Jane, Mary, henry, Anne and Isaac

I am not sure whether William bookham is the one christened on 14.4.1734 (son of William Bookham and Mary Sims) or the one christened on 28 April 1745 (son of THomas Bookham and Hannah Stone)

Look forwardd to hearing from you

best wishes

SArah

Lilyrose,

I notice that your interests include Atkins, Sollaway and Wilcox in Northants.  If the place is Grafton and the names are Michael and Henry, Rebecca and Hannah - then we have interests in common.

Look forward to hearing from you.
