Title: Sherlock
Post by: MarieL on Monday 26 January 04 07:31 GMT (UK)
I am researching my great-grandparents, John Sherlock (B. circa 1813) and  wife Margaret (nee Wallace) ( B circa 1816).
They married July 8th 1841 (ref: PP Rochefortbridge, according to Church records held at Parochial House Rochfortbridge, County Westmeath.)
They left Plymouth as Bounty Immigrants on 31st August 1841 and arrived Port Phillip on December 27th, 1841.
John's parents were James Sherlock and Elizabeth (nee Brennan). Margaret was the daughter of James Wallace and Bridget (nee Dangan)
Any  information about/ from  descendants of John and Margaret living in Ireland would be appreciated.
Marie L :)

Hi Marie

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

The names look good and the date also looks good. I've got lots of James and Elizabeths in my family but I don't know about Capel Surrey. Westmeath is the only place I have been told about by now-deceased relations. Lots of exploring has resulted in my finding about Rochfortbridge and I know a Bridget Sherlock, my great grandfather's niece, came as a famine orphan to Australia in early 1850's from Clonfad. I'm sure there would be descendants of Sherlocks in Westmeath today but I guess family history is not top priority for most busy people. Thanks for your reply. I'm grateful for that.  Marie. :)
