Title: PRESTONS of ARMAGH
Post by: davidP on Wednesday 08 March 06 18:54 GMT (UK)
Can I please have information about all Preston families originating in South Armagh to add to a Web page.

Most were from Tullyvallen township, Some in Newtownhamilton itself and others in surrounding farms and spreading towards Newry.

In particular I would appreciate any BMD certificates that name a Preston and details of any church or cemetary records

Connecting families include Hawthorn, Bell, Rainey, Dougan, Carson, McClure (all Armagh)  and Hillis (Monaghan)

Dougans I have found were John and Mary

John Dougan was a farmer in Knockavannon township near Newtownhamilton. I havent been able to find any record of where he lived in the Griffiths valuation etc. His daughter Mary married into my family in 1848. There is a Dougan grave plot in Ballymoyer Cof I churchyard.
