Hi,
Looking for a marriage of a David Steven to Jessie ??Could be Sutherland before 1881

Also the birth of a Alexander Sutherland abt.1868 mother Jessie ?? both Jessie and Alexander born Orkney
David I have as just Scotland abt.1853 his Occ. was Labourer.

I looked on www.cursiter.com (great for Orcadian BMDs), but couldn't find your Alexander. Did find this though in the Sutherland marriages — could it be his parents?
Alexander SUTHERLAND (M)..............  M: 9 Mar 1848                                                                           
  Spouse: Jessie SANDISON                  South Ronaldsay, Orkney, Scotland

Too many possibles to pick the birth of this Alexander, though I found this in the Sandison births:
 Jessie SANDISON (F)...................  B: Abt 1826                                                                             
  Spouse: Alexander SUTHERLAND            Orkney, Scotland

I don't know if you are stilllooking for this information, but I have recently discovered the illegetimate birth of Alexander Sutherland on Sth Ronaldshay in 1869. His mother was Jessie Mckenzie his father Alexander Sutherland.  Jessie married David Steven in 1879 in Kirkwall, they later moved to Newton in Makerfield Lancashire, where they are on the 1881 census.

found a birth for a David Steven on 7/8/1853 to Alexander Steven and Marjory Rosie in Bower, Caithness

on 1871 census for south ronaldsay at property no 42 commons: jessie mckenzie 23 visitor, worker and alexander sutherland 1 born south ronaldsay
