Post by: doughy on Tuesday 07 March 06 18:34 GMT (UK)
Hi, I´m trying to trace William Lundberg baptised in london circa 1803.William was born at sea and lundberg is a typically swedish name ,so I presume his father was on board a merchantman sailing from scandinavia.Does any one know if there are shipping records from that period?any help would be great.

Hello, Doughy,

There are records known as Llyods Shipping Lists, these show all ships leaving & arriving at British ports on any given day.

If you want to know where you can check these, go to>>

http://mariners-l.co.uk/RestLloydsLocations.html

They are from 1785 to date, 1838 - 1926 on microfilm
I have looked at these on film at the Guildhall Library.

If you would like to read the history of how Lloyds started go to>>

www.lloydslists.com

scroll down the menu on the LH side to Our History, read & enjoy.
