Title: Mary (Molly) Lamb
Post by: Poll on Tuesday 07 March 06 17:05 GMT (UK)
Mary Lamb c1806 Radcliffe on Trent, daughter of Robert Lamb and Ann Foster.
married to James Upton.  Trying to find details of Lamb family, her brothers were the leaders in the Nottingham Corn Laws Riots in which Nottingham Castle was burned down and went into hiding for 2 years.

Do you have names for her brothers? :)

No, Unfortunately, I know they went into hiding with her husband James Upton, and that they were friends of Bendigo the bare fist fighter.  According to family history they were quite famous in Nottingham for heckling political meetings and the like.

Hi Poll,

no worries :) The IGI is the International Genealogical Index which can be found on familysearch.org under their "search for ancestors" button.

It consists of parish marriage and baptism entries for some parishes (though is by no means complete).

Another site I find useful is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/

Which is another way in to the transcribed parish records on the IGI. Most usefully it tells you which years are covered for which parish.

The important thing to remember is that the IGI contains two main kinds of information

1. extracted records - here someone has transcribed actual parish records and they are pretty reliable

2. user submitted records - these have been submitted by individuals in the course of their own research. Some are accurate - some are pure fiction :) Best to take these user submitted records as a start point to prove or disprove.

That's why I stressed the Radcliffe baptisms I gave you were extracted records. Hope this helps!
