Title: Tearle - Luton
Post by: Mazm on Monday 06 March 06 23:04 GMT (UK)
Hi
I trying to research George & Fanny (Birt) from Luton.  I have the birth certificate for Kate Tearle, their daughter b.1865.

I also have them on 1881 census

George 40
Fanny 38
Kate 15
Minnie 10
George 11
Arthur 9

I cannot find them on any previous census.  Cannot find George or Fanny's birth/marriage either.  So I am somewhat stuck :'(  Hope someone can "unstick" me  ;D

Regards
Maz

Marriage:
Dec qtr 1863  Fanny Birt  Woburn 3b 892 (8 is unclear)
Can't find George or ref # on free BMD (looks like no marriages in Woburn that year transcribed yet).

Births:
Jun qtr 1842  Fanny Birt  Woburn  12 112
Jun qtr 1843  (female) Birt  Cheltenham 15 208
Dec qtr 1843  Fanny Ellen Birt  Worcester 18 528

Rian.
PS the Chalgrave Fanny is too young.....

First of all Joe.

What can I say, I am possitively falling apart - well and truly unstuck  :o and I thought I had tried every version of the name Tearle.  Thank you thank you.  Will see how it all fits on my chart.

Rian thank you too for your information.

I agree that Fanny is too young to be mine, but I forgot to mention that on the 1881 census she is showing as being born in Chalgrave.

I also know that they used to lie about ages, didn't know how old they were, etc. etc.  Surely 10 years is stretching it a little  :o.

She is there (38) with George 40, Kate 15, Minnie 10, George 11 and arthur 9.

Rian

On a separate issue.  I notice that your Grandmother is Lilian Fennessy Hopkins.  She wouldn't be from Bedfordshire?  I have two Hopkins - Mary Hopkins married to James King 1846 and Ann Hopkins married to Thomas Allen 1810.

Both different sides of the family.  Any connection?

Joe,

Can't you tell I'm getting a tired!  Not sure why I agreed she was too young, I think my calculator needs new batteries.  ::)

Having looked again I think Rian must have meant she had found a birth for a Fanny in Chalgrave that was the wrong age.

Sorry, Sorry and thank you once again for all that information  :-*

Nah — Rian has the same problem as you, blame the calculator! :-\
Sorry to confuse you — don't know why I thought she was underage; different census date or something....

Regarding the Hopkins— no mine were from Worcs and Warks, and I don't have any that match yours. Have you tried the surname interest table yet?(See bottom of main page). You might get a match there.
Good luck, Rian.

Rian

There would have been a time when I could do calculations in my head :-X  I'm just grateful for the wonderful help I have received.

I am actually doing this bedfordshire research for a "relly" who lives on the Wirral but their family came from bedfordshire.  And me - I'm a brummie living in Worcester  ;D

Cheers

Please can anyone help me with this query?

My great-grandmother on my mother's side was Ann Tyrell, who married Joseph Bodsworth in Leighton Buzzard, on January 19, 1857.  Elsewhere she is referred to as Tearle.

Does anyone have anything more about her?

Hello Reed

I don't think anyone will read your message as you have posted on my search.

You need to start a new post, with a new heading.
Best of luck
