Hi Folks
Does anyone have Olive on their tree or know whether she married Bertie Sims in the Wimborne area 1908. It is possible that he was killed in WW1. She later married my Great Uncle Frank Ashton.
many thanks Heather

I believe that the marriage certificate of Olive to Frank Ashton should show previous names. The index may also show them

Many thanks for the two replies. I have the birth certificate for one of Olive and Franks children and she was Sims at one time. Wonder where I can find out anything further about the death of Bertie Sims in WW1, did those killed in the wars have a death certificate?
Regards Heather

Hi Heather
Yes, in the majority of cases they did have death certificates, you can obtain Overseas Records by following the information on the GRO site
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/research/searchingforoverseasrecords/index.asp#0
The records can be searched on www.1837online.com (pay to view) It would appear that there is a Bertie Sims recorded who was born in Verwood ???

Marriages - Wimborne District, March Quarter 1908 Volume 5a, Page 381:
BUTT, Rosa Cecilia
JENKINS, George
LITTLEFIELD, Olive Grace I
SIMS, Bertie
1901 Census shows a Olive G Littlefield age 9 as being born in Cosham, Hampshire - not Fareham ???

Hi Wendi
Thank you, especially for the web site for the overseas certificates. I think I will try the marriage certificate for my Great Uncle and Olive first to see what info that gives and then if no luck, try for a death certificate for Bertie.
I have only just found the last of Frank Ashtons 8 children!! That is what happens when families 'fall out'
very best wishes
Heather

Hi Heather,
Are you still researching Olive Littlefield c1891 Fareham, Ham.? I believe she is a distant relative of mine. I had a great x 3 grandfather James Littlefield who was a Police Supt. i/c Fareham Pol. Stn back in 1860s.
I've been researching the Littlefield families of the UK for over 20 years now.
