Hi
which Eastington do you mean, do you know?
There is one near Stroud and one near Northleach.
anything else you know about him - such as occupation?
kind regards, Arranroots ;)
-
Hello Arranroots.
The one near Stroud I think, occupation would be a bonus, thankyou.
Derek.

Hi Derek,
A quick search of the 1851 Census index does not reveal a John Perkins, born Eastington in 1835/36.
Do you have any additional information which might assist in locating this person?
What I have found so far are four John Perkins born in Gloucestershire, one at Cheltenham in 1830, one at Sheepscombe also in 1830, one at Longborough in 1831 and one at Berkeley in 1839.
I have found three Perkins born around the right time in Eastington, but these were Henry in 1835, William in 1835 and Mary in 1836.
Regards,
Richard

This could be your man as Alkington (the civil parish) is not far from Eastington. If you would like full details let me know.

Derek! ::) I wanted YOU to tell ME his occupation, LOL! ;D
The most likely would seem to be a servant from Sheepscombe - what do you think?
Unfotunately of course, that doesn't tell us who his parents are!
Will post the details if you want them.
A ;)

Hi Derek,
If the family found by bugsy is the right one, then the jobs of father Samuel and brother Stephen are Agricultural Labourers. John has no occupation listed nor is he described as a Scholar.
If neither the entry supplied by bugsy or that by Arranroots is correct, it would assist further research if you could let us know if you have any further information, such as siblings etc.
Regards,
Richard

On reflection, the Alkington one might be a better match.
It will probably get deleted by the Mods any minute though, so note the details quickly!!
;)

Ok Arranroots,I'll show my relly the Alkington info.
Many thanks all.
Have a nice day.
Derek.

My relly reckons he married a Ann Bailey who was born in Moreton Valance circa 1839,their daughter was named Lucy,he does'nt know where though,
silly bugger.
Derek.

Hi dweaving,
That additional information has proved invaluable as here is your John Perkins in 1861:-
1861 Census
Eastington, Gloucestershire
John Perkins - Head - md. - 29 - Agricultural Labourer - b. Glos., Eastington
Ann Perkins - w. - md. - 22 - Dress Maker - b. Glos., Moreton Valence
Ref: RG9 / 1770 / ED11 / f.122 / p.13
There was no child present, but maybe Lucy was born post-1861.
The fact that John was an Agricultural Labourer lends credence to the 1851 entries set out by bugsy being for the right family.
Regards,
Richard
