Title: Bastardy Order Thomas Taylor Macclesfield
Post by: cheshcat on Saturday 04 March 06 18:03 GMT (UK)
Would anybody visiting the Cheshire County Records Office be kind enough to check whether a bastardy or maintenance order was made for Thomas Taylor born about 1821 in Macclesfield ?  As he was illegitimate his mother's surname was also Taylor - possibly Elizabeth or Hannah.

I hope I am not asking too much.  I was in the Nottingham records office the other day and the Bastardy Orders are all indexed so I guess this may be the same in other county records offices?  The name is pretty common as well so I hope there aren't lots of orders for Thomas Taylor's.

Thank you
