Title: 1841 Look-up Barnett/Elvy
Post by: Gil Barnett on Saturday 04 March 06 11:49 GMT (UK)
I'm looking for more information about William and Caroline Barnett. William was born in Tong, Kent about 1815 and Caroline (maiden name is reported to be Elvy or Elvey) was born in Ospringe or Selling about 1819.

In 1841 they would have have been married and had at least one child. Richard William was born about 1837. The 1851 census said he was born in Ospringe but later ones state Lynsted or Famersham. Their next child on the 1851 census was born in Lynsted about 1842 so there is a good chance the family was living there.

I'm also looking for good possible matches for both William's parents and Caroline's parents. One researcher's post I found online said that William's parents were named John and Charlotte, but I haven't been able to confirm this.

Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gil,

I'm also researching the Elvy surname in that part of Kent, Milton next Sittingbourne, Faversham and Ospringe. I haven't managed to find Caroline in my research yet, but I'll let you know if I find anything.  :) ;)

Hi,

Here's the christening for Richard William Barnett:

BARNETT,   Richard William christened on   22 Oct 1837 at Faversham to parents William and Caroline.  Source: Faversham BT.

Sorry, I do not seem to have the marriage of William and Caroline, nor a christening for Caroline.

Still, I hope this helps a bit.

Best wishes,
Susan
