I have a William SIDDONS who was 35 on the 1841 census (born 1806?) but 53 in 1851 (born 1778?) 61 in 1861 (born 1801?) and 71 in 1871 (born 1800?)
He was born at West Bromwich. Can anyone find a probably baptism for him please? His occupation was a gun lock maker.
Thank you.

Hi
The second one married Hannah Partridge at Walsall in 1840 and was a shoemaker so go for the first one.
There's a William Siddons lock fitter of West Brom marrying a Sarah Taylor of Birmingham St Martins 19 Sep 1794 by licence

Thank you, Rarauk and Ciderdrinker. Sorry for my belated reply. I've been away from RootsChat for a while and, truth to tell, have got rusty as to where I was in my research. I have to refresh my memory,
Would the Siddons, Porters (rarauk) be Romany, by any chance? My Porter was from Essex. I'm looking for possible Romany or Indian connections.
Again, thanks.

My Porters are mostly Dorset & Somerset born.
But we do believe there is Romany connections. If not Porter through Ironsides and Lovell.
