Looking for info re. the Dobbins family. They lived around Warrington Place, Westland Row, and Powerscourt in Dublin, between 1900 and 1920's. Peter Dobbins worked for the gas company. Eager to find out about Peters parents.
Peter married Margaret Cullen daughter of Michael Cullen and Mary Jane Walsh.
Also interested in the Daniels family.
Daniels and Cullens lived in or around Mount St

Hi Jard
Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.
Have you made any progress, or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes

Hi Ticker
I've had a few private mails regarding my 'names' and their possible links with other people. None have yet answered my questions unfortunately.
One mail, however, did lead me to a great aunt, living in Walthamstow. She has provided me with some info. and a couple of certifcates, but alas no further names.
There were apparently quite a lot of Dobbins' around in Dublin in the early 1900's. Some are listed, some are not.
Mine seem to have been living in tenement buildings, and names were not listed in these during the census'.
Other records were destroyed during 1921 troubles.
I can't, as yet, go back any further than Peter and Margaret Dobbins (grandparents), but I can elaborate a bit on their children, which might jog a memory somewhere.
Son John Dobbins married Audrey Elliott 1942
Son Michael Dobbins married Dora Cullen c1940
Son Peter Dobbins married Josie ? c1945
Son Patrick Dobbins details not known
Daughter Margaret died as a child
Any new ideas or directions I can try ?

Hi Jard
Thanks for the update.
I can't give you any more info myself but hopefully someone will pick it up and find something for you.
Good luck

Hi,
If you have an actual address for 1901 and 1911, they should be in the census. The trouble is that the poorer families kept moving around so unless you have a birth certificate or similar from right close to the census date, they may have moved address again and there's currently no index (though it is rumoured to be in progress)

Hi Kate
I have two addresses, which covered a period of 20 years. But only the first would have been relevant to the 1911 census info.
The first was 14 Warrington Place Dublin.
My grandparents lived at the rear of this building, and their parents lived in Powerscourt.
In each case the family name would be Dobbins.
From mid 1920's the address changed to 37 Fenian St, off Wesrland Row , Dublin

Hi,
I believe the 1911 census is available on film at your local family history centre and there is a street index for Dublin

Hello, long shot. I am an ancestor of Henry Daniels, who I believe is from around this area. My knowledge is vague I am afraid, but we may be able to help each other?
