I am trying to trace a marriage in Curragh pre 1891. I dont know the areas very well as i am from wales so i dont even know if i have the right board. The couple were Henry Crooms and Mary Ann Amos and we dont even know why they were married in ireland as Henry was in the armed forces. Any help would greatly appreciated.

Hiya badgirl,
Not only were Henry and Mary Ann married in Ireland they were married in the United Kingdom too. Ireland was part of the UK from 1801 to 1922. Briish regiments were based at the Curragh. Do you have any idea of the regiment of which Henry was a member? This might help in discovering the year their marriage took place.

I shall get te info from my elderly Aunt as it's her father's marriage i am trying to trace. She remembers seeing a certificate with Curragh written on it but this has since vanished and it's all a mystery for her.
Thanks for replying, i had forgotten about this post!

Hiya Karren,
If your elderly Aunt remembers either the date her father was born or his age when he died that would give a rough idea when he joined the Army and when he married. If we can't get his regiment then a rough date may help to establish which regiments were stationed at the Curragh about the time of the marriage.
