I am looking for records of my great-great grandad Edward Taylor who lived in the Hardraw area of North Yorkshire nr Hawes. His wife was called Elizabeth??? nee Balderson???? and he had the following children, John born 1894, James, Richard, Edward, Hilda and Bertha.
I think he was born between 1850 and 1870 in the Sedburgh area.
Any information would be brilliant
thankyou!

Seems the only child you have a birth date for is John, do you have his birth certificate? that would give you his address when born, also his mother's maiden name, which will help you enormously.

Hello Gracey
1891 Census High Abbotside RG12/4033 folio 52 page 7
Simonstone
Edward Taylor head M 29 Farmer b. Westmorland Kiln Head
Elizabeth wife 26 b. High Abbotside
The anomaly is place of birth of Edward and trade.
On close inspection of the 1901 census page his occupation is Farmer. The placeof birth is as posted by MaryA.
The above Edward can be traced back, his place of birth changing to Westmorland Sool Bank in 1881 to Westmorland Langrigg in 1871 where he is living with his Grandfather 79 a farmer of 145 acres.
This gives the opportunity to trace the family back to the 1841 census.
First the place of birth of Edward must be established.

Hi,
BMD indicates Edward and Elizabeth Balderston married in the parish of Aysgarth, December quarter 1890.
Elizabeth Balderston, b. Sept. quarter, 1864 in the parish of Askrigg.
Edward Taylor, b. March quarter, 1868 in the parish of Askrigg. This is the only Edward I could find anywhere and it doesn't fit in with the census?
I will keep looking,
Regards,
Pels

Sorry if I got the occupation wrong, I can only say that I've had very bad poblems with modem and broadband today and rushed a little too quickly over replying to you in order to get a response up before the internet went down.
Once again, my apologies.

Hello Pels, MaryA and Grace
Had you had a drop MaryA, I sometimes do it sure makes the eyelids droop. I got a John for a Jane the other night, did not check the gender column, I blamed the Glenfiddich.
Confirmed the marriage Dec qu 1890 Aysgarth 9D 1221, the certificate would get the fathers which would be a help, and who knows what the witnesses would turn up.
Births for Edward 1862 June quarter Kendal 10b 624
1866 " " County Durham 10a 461
Both a bit iffy
